Children’s Director
The Children’s Director shall be committed to Jesus Christ and to the children and their families of this church. The Director shall demonstrate character traits of the highest caliber and display integrity and unquestionable moral standards. The Director shall possess the administrative skills necessary to carry out the job duties, as well as the interpersonal skills necessary for working with children and adults.
The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. The Children’s Director plays a vital part in this by providing the children (ages 5 through 5th grade) and their families with opportunities to know and experience the love of Jesus and instilling in them a desire to be His disciples, as well as by establishing the basics of our faith using age-appropriate lessons and other learning opportunities.
DUTIES
- Plan, promote, conduct, and oversee the various programs for children’s ministry outlined in the Programs section of this document.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteers for the children’s program.
- Build relationships with the children and their families and be available to address concerns and identify needs.
- Become familiar with families enrolled in Parent’s Day Out and encourage participation in SCM Children’s Programming.
- Co-chair Children and Youth Council meetings with the Youth Director, to be held quarterly or as necessary.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the Leadership Team.
- Attend educational and training workshops or seminars to develop effective ways to conduct children’s programs.
- Submit budget proposal annually prior to annual church budget meeting and adhere to approved budget amount.
- Submit receipts and other documentation of expenditures of church funds to the church treasurer.
- Communicate the activities of the youth group through the church’s webpage, newsletter, bulletin and other sources.
- Know, follow, and enforce the Ministry Safe policies of SCM.
- Regular participation in SCM worship services.
PROGRAMS
- Weekly children’s gathering including teaching, constructive play, crafts, snacks or any other component useful in pursuing the goals stated above.
- Oversee Children’s Church by scheduling volunteers and helpers and providing curriculum or supplies as necessary. Be available to fill in if necessary.
- Palm Sunday and Easter Festival. Palm Sunday morning worship responsibilities include ordering palm branches and organizing children to process in the service waving palm branches. Easter Festival events may include games, crafts, devotions, snacks/treats, puppet show, and egg hunt, with volunteers also needed for setup and cleanup. Responsibilities include procuring and training volunteers for all aspects, promotion of the event, ordering of supplies, soliciting and organizing donations for treats/candy/eggs, filling of the eggs, and general oversight of the event. The director would also coordinate a devotional meeting for volunteers prior to the event.
- Vacation Bible School, a large two to five-day community event in the evenings with a concluding celebration. Responsibilities include coordination and oversight of the event, acquiring and training volunteers for all aspects of this event, procuring curriculum/supplies, promoting the event, coordinating food for the children and volunteers, and decorating the church facilities applicable to the curriculum theme. The director would also coordinate a devotional meeting for volunteers prior to each night of the event.
- Fall Festival with Trunk N Treat. This is a large event for the Spring City community. Activities include games, food, prizes, pictures, and the Trunk N Treat portion, as well as setup and cleanup for the event. Responsibilities include organizing, training, and overseeing volunteers, scheduling and promoting the event, soliciting and distributing candy and food donations, decorating and setup. The director would also coordinate a devotional meeting for volunteers prior to the event.
- Coordinating a Christmas event.
- Coordinating ordering and distribution of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts by the children during morning worship.
- Service opportunities as appropriate.
Work Hours: An average of ten to fifteen (10-15) hours per week is expected, with distribution of work hours based on the children’s activities. Some of the programs are annual events requiring additional hours, while other times may require less overall hours per week. Youth Director
The Youth Director shall be committed to Jesus Christ and to the youth and their families of this church. The Director shall demonstrate character traits of the highest caliber and display integrity and unquestionable moral standards. The Director shall possess the administrative skills necessary to carry out the job duties, as well as the interpersonal skills necessary for working with youth and adults.
The mission of the Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. The Youth Director plays a vital part in this by providing the youth (6th through 12th grade) and their families with opportunities to know and experience the love of Jesus and instilling in them a desire to be His disciples, as well as by building strong relationships and cultivating leaders among the youth.

- Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteers for the youth program.
- Build relationships with the youth and their families and be available to address concernsand identify needs.

- Serve in an advisory capacity to the Leadership Team.
- Attend educational and training workshops or seminars to develop effective ways toconduct youth programs.

PROGRAMS
- Weekly Wednesday and Sunday evening youth gatherings including teaching Bible lessons that will help our youth to establish a relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in their faith. May also include games, service projects, snacks or meals, or any other component useful in pursuing the goals stated above.
- Coordinating and attending Resurrection, an annual youth weekend in Pigeon Forge, or other comparable spiritual event approved by the pastor.
- Coordinating an annual fall weekend spiritual retreat.
- Regular mission trips and service opportunities as appropriate.
- Regular fun activities and outings.
Work Hours: An average of ten to fifteen (15-20) hours per week is expected, with distribution of work hours based on the youth activities. Some of the programs are annual events requiring additional hours, while other times may require less overall hours per week. Programs and schedules may be added, modified, or removed as necessary to meet the needs for the growth of our ministry and witness to youth within our church and community.
Contemporary Worship Leader
The worship leader will work with the Pastor and lead a team to oversee and coordinate all the details of a contemporary worship service, with the goal of passionate worship that focuses on God and helps people of all ages grow in their understanding of the gospel, and with a focus on fulfilling the mission and vision of the Global Methodist Church.
The Worship Leader is under the direct supervision of the SCM Senior Pastor and the general supervision of the Leadership Team.
Qualifications:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him, with a commitment to moral purity.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of making disciples for Jesus Christ.
- Displays evidence of passion for worshiping God and helping others worship through music, liturgy, and in personal and community practices.
- A good understanding of and ability to lead and/or direct contemporary Christian music. Ability to sing, play keyboard, guitar, or percussion is preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to engage the congregation in worship effectively, alongside a sensitivity to the many ways people relate to God.
- Skilled in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships. A team player with a positive attitude.
- Skilled in the use of technology in worship and in the use of sound, lighting, computers, and video projection. Ability to incorporate other art forms as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through ongoing spiritual disciplines.
- Build and/or work with the necessary teams to carry out the contemporary worship service. This includes recruiting, auditioning, teaching, training, and directing musicians to serve the congregation as a team with musical skill and humility.
- Direct all weekly activities and rehearsals necessary to facilitate the contemporary worship service, including some form of spiritual formation at every rehearsal to promote discipleship and cultivate a worship community.
- Plan the corporate contemporary worship services in consultation with the Senior Pastor and do so with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness. Oversee song and choral selection, media preparation and presentation, sound and lighting enhancements, and coordination of all instrumentalists, vocalists, and dramatists.
- Lead all contemporary worship services, inviting heartfelt worship that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus.
- Assist in the set-up and tear-down of sound equipment before and after rehearsals and Sunday morning service.
- Find and plan other ways to use music and drama to reach out to the community evangelistically. Oversee the contemporary worship department budget, organization, and volunteers.
- Communicate regularly with the church office.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the Leadership Team, demonstrating a commitment to this congregation and its mission and celebrating and serving the whole life of the congregation and the community.
- Set annual goals for the contemporary worship ministry that are in line with our vision, and then evaluate how those goals were attained or modified during the year.
- Maintain familiarity with Global Methodist resources, facilitate their use, and be able to recommend appropriate resources for educating all age levels and faith stages about worship life.
